Stephan Sonnenberg is an Associate Professor and Director of the Human Dignity Clinic as well as the Difficult Conversations Clinic at Seoul National University School of Law. He is also a Senior Affiliated Supervisor with the University Network for Human Rights. Stephan previously taught at Harvard and Stanford Law Schools, as well as at Bhutan’s only law school, the Jigme Singye Wangchuck School of Law, where he served as Associate Dean of Experiential and Clinical Legal Education. Stephan’s academic and clinical work focuses on the intersections between human rights, development, and dispute resolution.
He has worked on human rights issues in upwards of 20 countries and a variety of contexts. Much of his current work focuses on human rights issues of particular concern to the Korean Peninsula, including issues related to human rights and emerging technologies, corporate responsibility and accountability (ESG), the rights of persons who resettled from North to South Korea, and various unsettled transitional justice issues arising from Korea’s turbulent and tragic 20 th century history. He is also working on issues related to involuntary migration and climate change, especially in the Asia-Pacific region. Stephan holds a JD from Harvard Law School, a MA in Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School, and a BA from Brown University.

Thomas Cheng is a professor at the University of Hong Kong. He has written extensively on competition law in developing countries and on the competition law of a number of Asian jurisdictions, including Hong Kong, China, and Japan. He has published two monographs, Competition Law in Developing Countries and The Patent-Competition Interface in Developing Countries, with Oxford University Press. In 2022, he was named by Global Competition Review, a leading competition law publication, as one of the 25 most influential antitrust academics in the world.

Prof. Weck is Member of the Academic Society for Competition Law.

Yong Lim is an Associate Professor at Seoul National University (“SNU”), School of Law, where he also served as Associate Dean of Student Affairs until 2020. He is the co-founder and director of SNU AI Policy Initiative (“SAPI”). SAPI is one of the labs currently spearheading a project at SNU’s Center for Trustworthy AI to establish normative and technical standards for AI. His areas of specialty include competition law, consumer protection, privacy and data governance. Yong graduated from Seoul National University, College of Law, and obtained his S.J.D. at Harvard Law School. Prior to joining academia, Yong practiced law at Kim & Chang in Seoul, Korea. Yong was a Bok International Professor at Penn Carey Law in 2023.
