Gus Hurwitz’s work draws from law, economics, and computer science to study how technology orders legal, economic, and social institutions. A principal focus of this work is understanding how regulatory institutions respond to disruptive technologies and the limitations that regulators face in such responses. Recently, he is focusing on how to design technologies to be aligned with social and political values, in order to minimize the need for regulatory intervention.
